On Friday 13th December, a team of 26 staff, trustees, volunteers and friends of RESTART slept out in London for an evening to raise awareness and funds for the homeless.

Despite the wet weather (and some intermittent spouts of hail!), we made sure to bed down, outside St. Columba’s Church, for 8 hours between 10pm and 6am the next morning.

Our SleepOut event was not designed to reflect the grim experience of long-term homelessness; however, it was a great chance to help us understand and reflect, a little better, what it might be like to sleep rough night after night.

On the evening, we learnt more about RESTART’s vision through Andrew, our Founder, and Nick, our Chair of Trustees; had fabulous fundraisers ‘on the ground’ circulating the local area making collections and were supported by volunteers and our Security Team who kept us safe and were encouraging through the night.

This was a most successful event that brought many members of the RESTART community together as well as elevating the charity’s profile.
